The
award-winning Middleton Inn Bed and Breakfast is a classic country estate with
all the grandeur and elegance of an English country home. Listed on the Virginia
Landmarks Register, this historic estate offers Southern graciousness and
gentility in a rural setting with mountain views on acres of scenic pasture and
meadow in the historic village of Washington, Virginia.
The historic Middleton Inn B&B, which has received the prestigious Four
Diamond AAA rating, was built in 1850 by Middleton Miller who manufactured and
designed the Confederate uniform during the Civil War.
Surrounded by pastures and paddocks with white board fencing, the Middleton Inn
Bed and Breakfast, sits on a knoll facing the Blue Ridge Mountains. Guests enjoy
sipping complimentary wine on the spacious front porch as they gaze at the
beautiful mountain views or watch the horses prancing in the paddocks.
In addition to the stables, the Middleton Inn Bed & Breakfast has three of
the original dependencies on the estate: the old summer kitchen, the smoke house
and the slaves' quarters. The slaves' quarters has been renovated into a
romantic two-story guest cottage with views of the mountains.
In addition to the distinguished AAA rating, the Middleton Inn has received the
highest rating for Bed & Breakfasts from the Mobil Travel Guide. It has
received rave reviews from critics for The Washington Post, Washingtonian
Magazine and authors of such publications as Recommended Country Inns, Inn Spots
& Special Places, Birnbaum's Country Inns & Back Roads North America,
and James Yenckel's Great Getaways.
